چکیده

With the rapid development of global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) and their increasingly wide range applications in atmospheric science, total electron content (TEC) data are widely used theoretical study layer coupling related to seismicity. This detected analyzed pre-earthquake ionospheric anomalies (PEIA) by using TEC from Royal Observatory Belgium (ROB), coseismic disturbance (CID) with vertical (VTEC) GPS stations earthquake preparation areas. The results show that PEIA appear increase continuously 08:00–12:00 UT 3 days before a seismic swarm Mw > 5.0. ionosphere over seismogenic zones exhibited large-scale when multiple Balkan Peninsula spatially temporally overlapped. Moreover, around centers showed positive anomaly lasting for 7 h. In single zone Greece, center reached +3.42 TECu. addition, CID observed shows number earthquakes, area is more obviously disturbed, after three strong suddenly decreased formed phenomenon similar an hole. We conclude lithosphere–atmosphere–ionosphere mechanism existed appeared Peninsula. Earthquake-induced VTEC occurred frequently within 3–10 day window earthquake. particularly evident overlap spatiotemporally.

Towards Observing Tsunamis in the Ionosphere Using GPS TEC Measurements

Tsunamis have been a significant threat to humans living in coastal regions throughout recorded history. The recent tsunami of September 29, 2009 was a tragic reminder of this fact, as the waves caused over 180 deaths on the islands of Samoa, American Samoa, and Apia in the south Pacific. Recent modeling results and observations have demonstrated that the ionospheric signature of an ocean tsuna...

Nonlinear Estimation to Assimilate GPS TEC Data into a Regional Ionosphere Model

A new method of is being developed to estimate the ionosphere’s 3-dimensional electron density distribution based on GPS slant TEC data. The goal of this effort is to develop a generalized parametric ionospheric model that is amenable to data assimilation using powerful nonlinear least-squares batch filtering techniques and related techniques. In addition to assimilating GPS TEC data, this meth...

A Floating Vertical TEC Ionosphere Delay Correction Algorithm for Single Frequency GPS Receivers

This paper presents an innovative method to mitigate ionosphere delay error for single frequency receivers. Traditional approach to ionosphere delay correction is carried out through modeling the total electron content (TEC) along each satellite signal path. Because of the large deviation of the TEC during different times of the day, season, and solar cycle from any mean measurements, the ionos...
